TOCFL results are presented in the form of scale scores, and the full score is 80.
Since 2013, TOCFL results are presented in the form of scale scores, and the cut-off scores of each level are obtained from the standard setting study. Based on the Rasch model of item response theory, scale score is the result of mathematical transformation according to the difficulty index of the test items and the number of questions that candidates answer correctly. The larger the number of test items answered correctly, the higher the scale scores. Compared with the raw score (the number of test items answered correctly), the scale score is more objective since it is not affected with the different item difficulty of each test.
